Healing Thresholds is a free website dedicated to healing the lives of families touched by autism. It provides comprehensive therapy fact sheets, daily updates of research and news, and a global directory of autism therapists.
Launched in 2006, Healing Thresholds has become a standard and definitive source for autism treatment information. In particular, the site provides layperson-accessible summaries of child-focused autism therapy research as well as 12 autism therapy fact sheets.
When you look through our therapy fact sheets, you will see that everything we state is referenced. In other words, anything we write has been stated by an expert in the field of autism research and reviewed by other experts in the field during the process of publication. If you think we may have misinterpreted information, you can look at the lay summary of the cited reference, the abstract of the cited reference, or you can read the reference itself. In all cases, you will know that what we have written has a reference point in the scientific community. Our fact sheets are prepared by medical writers who are trained scientists. They are reviewed by a developmental pediatrician with expertise in the field of autism.
Advertisements and Directory
In 2009, we debuted a large and growing directory of autism therapy providers. The directory is free to users and free to providers. We charge providers for a premium listing that includes a link to their Web site, photo, provider description, and other information.
Our Web site hosts advertisement banners and sponsored links. Sponsored links are labeled “Ads by Google.” Advertisements are colorful and framed and clearly distinct from Web site content, which is gray and black and indigo.
Our Web site hosts primarily Google sponsored ads and links and we do not control the Google ad content other than to ban a few advertisements that we were uncomfortable with. Our editorial content is free of any commercial influence and is driven primarily by what is published in the scientific literature and in the media.
Healing Thresholds was co-founded in 2006 by Lara Pullen, PhD and Dan Kohn. Medical review is provided by Alan Rosenblatt, MD, FAAP. Scottie Kersta-Wilson, Marisa Naujokas, PhD, and others have provided invaluable content and support. All content on our site is copyright Healing Thresholds, though we encourage you to make use of it in your own explorations, to share it with friends and colleagues (which is easy using the Share This button at the top and bottom of every page), and to take full advantage of your fair use rights for research and review.
You can comment on any therapy topic by using the comment link at the bottom of each content page. Contributors to the website agree not to upload or transmit any communications or content of any type that infringe or violate any rights of any party. By submitting communications or content, you agree that such submission is non-confidential for all purposes.
