I would like to share with you all a story done by a local CBS station in Austin ,TX. The journalist , Judy Maggio, did a great job in bringing a more positive light to autism rather than the negative stereotyping we often cringe to watch in the media nowadays.

The story focuses on a clinic in Austin callled H.A.L.O (Helping Autism through Learning&Outreach) where teacher Soma Mukhopadhyay teaches students 1:1 each day using the method she created to teach her own autistic son ,Tito Mukhopadhyay,RPM. This is an incredible method where as it combines teaching academics and eliciting independent communication from those who struggle with verbal communication. One of the unique things about RPM is that it's not exclusive to autism. It can be applied with students that have various diagnosises that also have communication challenges. We have been learning RPM over the past year,as I've written about before, and I hope that as other's find out more about RPM that they too will see that there's so much more to our children than what most have assumed for so long.
