That's wonderful. Make sure you have things set up so that you can really talk to the doctor. That may mean a separate appointment without your child or bringing a caretaker along or bringing along a small videoplayer.

I guess I would aks the question: "If this were your child, what would you be doing?" and "what other things/therapies have parents had success with?" With both of these questions you are trying to push beyond medical recommendations and evidence-based, to try to get at what, in the doctor's experience, he has seen working for other families. Also, ask for local resources.
