As a teacher of children with autism, this is one of the many sources that I would suggest to parents. I like your objectiveness; there is a wealth of information on this site for parents in need of support and information and you give no opinions except for what is researched. I do believe your site's information is centered around the medical field, however, and you don't have many posts or discussions for teachers and therapists. I believe that there should not be a separation between parents, teachers, and other professionals when it comes to autism, or any other type of special need. I do realize that this is a place for parents to collaborate, and that is also very important, but if there was a site that could bring all people involved in the child's life together, it would be most beneficial for everyone.
In general, the site was easy to navigate and seemed like a good source for parents who are interested in the general medical/theraputic facts about autism. I also liked the fact that you post new information on therapies, interventions, and other findings almost everyday.
Satomi, this was my post. I apologize if I didn't post my name correctly.
I absolutely agree with you about the importance of the team and pulling the team together to help the child. We scan educational and therapy literature and not just medical literature. I think that, overall, you will see research from all fields represented in our research summaries.
I like your idea about providing a forum for teachers and therapists to exchange ideas. We welcome input from teachers and therapists on this site, but maybe we don't do a good enough job creating a forum for those sorts of exchanges. Is there anything we could do to this site to make it a more comfortable place for this to happen or do you think that teacher and therapist exchanges are more likely to happen on a site that is distinct from where parents visit?
