My son has his first appointment with the Developmental Ped. I am excited and scared I have some questions written down, but I do not want to for get any. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Larag
That's wonderful. Make sure you have things set up so that you can really talk to the doctor. That may mean a separate appointment without your child or bringing a caretaker along or bringing along a small videoplayer.
I guess I would aks the question: "If this were your child, what would you be doing?" and "what other things/therapies have parents had success with?" With both of these questions you are trying to push beyond medical recommendations and evidence-based, to try to get at what, in the doctor's experience, he has seen working for other families. Also, ask for local resources.
