Thanks for the site. I enjoy the objectivity in which topics are presented. My comment is related to the people that will use the site. It seems like the site is though for families that already have the diagnosis and will like to learn more about it, however; I did not find lots of information for families that don't have a diagnosis yet, or that don't know Autism signs and behaviors. Will you be interest in including common signs for autism and steps when suspecting that a child as the disorder? I think that information will complete the site and give opportunity for new people in the Autism community to learn and understand the site better.
Thanks
Sasha
Thank you for your feedback. For now, our plans are to focus on autism therapies. I think that you will find that some of the therapies will help children who do not have an official diagnosis of autism. For example, if a child has a language delay, speech therapy can be very helpful regardless of whether or not the child has autism. Sensory integration therapy is another example of a therapy that can be helpful for children with sensory problems whether or not they have an actual diagnosis of autism. In my case I used many of these therapies with my son because he was at risk for autism. He actually never developed autism. Did the therapies help to normalize his nervous system? I believe so, although I will never know.
I highly recommend the CDC's "Learn the Signs. Act Early" campaign (http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/ActEarly/) for information about early signs of autism.
