A Washington State dad, getting older and suffering from ill health, is not alone in his struggle to deal with his 45-year old autistic son. More and more parents are being faced with the question of how to care for their grown children with autism and advocacy groups are beginning to listen. In this case, the Arc of King County stepped in to help. "It's a very uncertain future given the numbers of people," said ARC representative, Nancy Meltzer. She helped the family locate and secure a spot in a group home - supported living - which experts say is "the best care available short of an institution." The funding came from the Core Waiver, state funding to provide high-level care.
