The Promise Learning Centre at the University of West Indies (UWI) features art therapy as an intervention for autism. Jennifer Gibb, an occupational therapist at UWI believes that art therapy can lower blood pressure, increase cognitive function, and social skills. Art therapy does not have to be expensive or difficult, "Found objects, paint and pencils are the kinds of media used in this kind of art ... Collage, drawing, painting, baking, tie-dye, sewing and crochet are all used."
