Autism Diagnosis and Treatment

Pediatricians can be at a disadvantage when diagnosing autism in children. There is a gap between pediatric training programs and modern-day practice; many times they find themselves educated by parents.

Pediatricians are now looking for subtle signals that a child may be suffering a developmental delay or particular sensitivity. They all agree that early diagnosis and early intervention treatment (at least 25 hours a week) is essential and effective.
