Jennifer Allender, a classically trained dancer, has been a special education teacher to children with autism and other disabilities over for 14 years. The Illinois school children who benefit from Ms. Allender's therapy gain physical, occupational (OT), speech, and most of all social skills. The dance play includes movement, singing, imitation, and repetition. Allender says, "What happens in class opens up a whole new world of experiences. The mirrors on the wall help them visualize things, and it's really a multi-sensory experience."
