Dream Center Hosts Autism Activities with Ethnicity and Disability as Focus

The Friends of Children with Special Needs Dream Center in California tackles the sometimes stigma that children with autism face in the Chinese community. The Dream Center provides the children with activities as diverse as kung-fu lessons and as traditional as speech therapy and social interaction intervention. In some ethnic communities, parents feel like they need to hide their children with autism and feel a certain social guilt. Since 1996, the Dream Center has offered a holistic environment for children and families, and has inspired other minority groups to form special needs support communities.
