Free Rein Center for Therapeutic Riding and Education in NC, offers horses that heal to children with autism. The directors say, "For folks with cognitive, emotional, physical, and other special needs, the unique relationship formed with a horse can improve self-esteem, self awareness, confidence and communication skills. And clients with physical disabilities may improve their coordination, balance and flexibility." Increasingly therapists are seeing a special bond between horses and humans.
