The GRAMMYS are more than awards; there is the GRAMMY Foundation that recently awarded funding to UCLA to study how music can help children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) learn to recognize emotions and facial expressions. Istvan Molnar-Szakacs, a researcher at the UCLA Tennenbaum Center for the Biology of Creativity will use music to engage children with autism. He hopes to determine if children with ASD "process musical emotions and social emotions in the same way that typically developing children do."
