"Hoofbeats" as Autism Therapy

Hoofbeats & Heartbeats, offering therapeutic horse-back riding lessons, is launching a Painted Pony Parade to raise money for the organization.

Linda Lewis, president of this Minnesota-based group, plans to find sponsors to support placing 50-75 painted miniature and full-sized ponies around the community. She will use the funds to continue providing lessons year-round for children with autism and other disabilities. She believes that persons with cognitive limitations "can benefit from the riding lessons as they learn better communication skills while learning to communicate with the horses and the volunteers who help."
