Kansas Parents Coordinate State Autism Advocates

The Wasmer's autistic daughter is now mainstreamed in a third grade classroom; they credit her development to early intervention. In order to allow other parents with less resources the same opportunities for their children, the Wasmers created the Kansas Coalition for Autism Legislation (KCAL). KCAL coordinates autism advocates who lobby for health insurance, "best practice standards for treating individuals with autism, solutions for the shortage of qualified autism service providers and the role of the educational system and access to funding."
