Each year, the Kindering Center in Bellevue, Washington provides early intervention to 3,000 children with autism and other developmental delays. "There's quite a bit of research that tells us if you're able to impact a child's motor, feeding and language skills by a particular age, then they are likely to not need services by age one," (Program Director Kim Gerdes). Created in 1962, the center provides one-on-one intervention including therapies for speech, feeding, and motor issues. In addition, Kindering offers support to siblings and parents.
