Lorinda Jones, a music therapist in Kentucky, explains that a bond is created between the therapist and the child with music as the medium."There are good vibes created when a person interacts with a live musician. In many cases it may literally be the sound vibrations that bring about the healing, and in other cases, it may be the caring, safe environment that is created when someone brings music to you." Even for non-verbal children, music therapy can promote communication; the child can be taught to sign the words of a song.
