La Salle-Putnam County Educational Alliance for Special Education (LEASE) uses summer vacation for teacher training sessions. Teachers receive intensive training in working with children with autism: "five full days of working with students in the morning and receiving instruction in the afternoon." Teachers are taught new strategies to communicate with their students, for example, using visual techniques while they speak.
