When Hugh McGuire was diagnosed with autism at age 2, applied behavior analysis (ABA) had not yet been used in New Zealand. Now 14 years later, after his parents were instrumental in getting ABA therapy for Hugh, he plays cricket, likes cars, and is working towards academic achievement. He and his parents credit ABA with one-on-one, home-based intervention to teach communication and socialization to Hugh.
