Occupational therapists have been involved in Wisconsin schools since 1975; however, increased awareness of autism has "amplified both consciousness and need for occupational therapy in schools." Visitors from the State Occupational Therapy Credentialing Board recently visited Franklin Elementary School where they watched and worked with students who typed words into a computer, counted colored beads, and performed finger-writing with shaving cream.
