Robot Helps Kids with Autism Explore Their World

UD1 the robot may not have a very cute name, but this robot can help children with autism and other disabilities gain access to their world. Developed by two researchers at the University of Delaware, UD1 encourages "'embodied development' - the use of touch and movement to define a space, which is key to cognitive and behavioral development." The robot can be used by children as young as 7 months and helps with interaction and social development as children guide UD1 with a joystick.
