Kindergartners with autism at Lakeland School in WI begin their day with yoga-like exercise. Early intervention and occupational therapists at the school say it helps the children relax and promotes learning. "By doing positions such as "the mouse," "the dog" and "the butterfly," children learn how to relax, follow directions, participate appropriately in a group and increase their attention span." Each child receives a yoga kit with picture symbols of the poses so they can work at home.
