iMatter Surf Camp in Westhampton, NY, provided young surfers with autism the chance at aquatic therapy. Aquatic therapy in the form of surfing focuses on play therapy, range of motion, and improved body awareness. This play therapy helps children with autism. Not only do they learn balance and self confidence, but the "hydrostatic pressure [of the water] that surrounds their body in water. . . actually soothes and calms the children providing necessary sensory input that they crave."
