Urbana Middle School (IL) began using the Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH) in 2006 just in time for Brian Welch. Brian receives lots of family support, particularly from his older sisters, but the TEACCH program gives him peer support. Each of the very different 9 students in Brian's class move from activity to activity using a visual schedule; each have a volunteer buddy from a regular class.
