The Graham Academy in Luzerne PA offers kids with autism and other special needs a chance to learn and play baseball in the middle of winter. For the third year in a row, the baseball clinic offers the opportunity for socializing and exercising during the winter weather. Lackawanna College men’s baseball team volunteers to teach and coach baseball skills. About 30 children participated in the clinic where they pitched, bunted, and ran the bases. One mom explained, "The clinic offers the opportunity to socialize, which is very beneficial during the winter months when the children may be cooped up in the house." The baseball team coach observed that it's good for his players to meet these special children and understand that there is something outside of baseball.
