Art therapy may help children with autism to learn.
Children with autism experience the world in a different way than other children. Most of the education that is given to children with autism focuses on teaching them to do things versus helping them to understand their own view of the world. Art education and art therapy are not usually included in school programs for children with autism. Art education includes teaching the child about art, whereas art therapy includes communicating with the child through art. Neither art education nor art therapy have specific products that are easy to judge as right or wrong. Art therapy can be useful in helping the child and the teacher to connect so that learning can happen.
