Children with autism often have other health issues such as sleep problems, food problems, and epilepsy.
The purpose of this study was to see to what extent children with autism also had other health issues. The study was retrospective, which means it was based upon medical records and parent memory. The authors found that children with autism tend to have many other health issues. Epilepsy was found in 14% of the 160 children. The authors hope that this study will help doctors to see and treat the many health issues that may touch a child with autism.
