ABA | applied behavior analysis | autism | parent | PDD | pervasive developmental disorders | risperidone | training
The Research Units on Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Psychosocial Interventions (RUPP Autism Network) has made a detailed manual for parent training in applied behavior analysis (ABA).
Many small studies have shown that parent training in ABA helps children with autism. This paper describes a parent training program that will be tested in a multisite study. The authors hope that this program will be proven to help children with autism and then can be used around the world. The authors also hope to collect data on which type of parents (race, socioeconomic, education, working versus stay at home, etc.) and which types of children are most likely to be helped by the program. The program can be used with drug therapy such as risperidone.
