A computer program may soon make it easier to find a discrete trial training (DTT) tutor for children with autism.
This paper tested whether or not a computer program (DTkid) was able to teach people to become DTT tutors for children with autism. The authors found that DTkid was able to improve the tutors' knowledge of DTT. DTkid was also able to teach tutors to do a better job with DTT than people who did not get DTkid training. The tutors were able to learn from DTkid simply by watching DTkid in playback mode. The authors hope to be able to include DTkid in a larger training program that will make it easier and faster to train people to be good DTT tutors.
