1960 | autism | good science | LSD
LSD was once a popular autism therapy that has since been shown to be no good for the treatment of autism.
This review article describes the few studies that have been done on the use of LSD as a treatment for autism. The authors state that in the 1960s, LSD was described as a good therapy for autism, even though there were no real studies showing that LSD worked. The scientists of the time were working very hard to find a good treatment for autism and they really wanted LSD to be that treatment. Most of the LSD studies that were done were poorly designed and had very little data. The authors conclude by urging doctors to rely on good science when choosing therapies for autism.
