Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic cause of autism. This paper reviews the syndrome and talks about the treatments that have been tried for the syndrome. There have been very few drug therapy trials for Fragile X Syndrome. Some parents find that antidepressants and stimulants help with the symptoms of Fragile X Syndrome. There is a new drug being researched called CX516 that works on part of the brain called the AMPA receptor. Also, the drug RU-486 has been tested and it may help the brain of people with Fragile X Syndrome.
