Layperson Summary:

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy can be used to quickly teach adolescents with autism how to ask better questions.

This study was designed to see if it was possible to teach adolescents with autism to ask better questions. Six weeks of hourly question training based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques resulted in better questions from all of the students. The students learned a set of rules that can be used when asking questions. The students and the coaches all thought that the questions were better after the six weeks of therapy. The study showed that five of the nine students knew how to ask questions but needed practice in asking questions well.
