Children with Asperger's may be able to learn skills faster if they can watch a video of themselves doing the skill well.
This study looked to see whether videos could help children with Asperger's learn to write essays. The video allowed the boys to watch themselves writing words and writing a good essay (self-regulated strategy development). At first the three teenage boys only wrote essays that were 11-121 words long and that really weren't very good. After learning from the video, all boys had an increased number of words and their essays looked more like essays. The authors note that it was hard to get a good measure as to what was a bad, better and good essay.
