Layperson Summary:

Even 12 weeks of social skills training can help children with high-functioning autism.

This study looked to see whether social skills training could help children with autism learn to communicate better. The social skills training sessions were once a week (90 minutes) for 12 weeks. The authors found that social skills training with a group of peers was helpful for children with high-functioning autism. Some children improved a lot and some children did not improve very much. The children that did not show improvement also missed several of the sessions.
