Dieticians can be a good addition to any autism treatment team.
Many children with autism also have gastrointestinal (GI) problems and allergies. Some scientists believe that diet therapy may help these symptoms. When choosing to start a diet therapy, families of children with autism often receive more information than they can use. They need to use this information to think though the pros and cons of any new diet therapies. Dieticians can work with families to be sure that children are getting all of the nutrients they need when they are put on a new diet therapy.
