This survey found that the most popular autism therapy approaches used in North Carolina (for children eight years old and younger) are TEACCH, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), and Floor Time.
The survey included children with autism (77%), Asperger syndrome (14%), and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (9%). Most families use many different types of therapies and treatments at once. Families who say that they have an approach to the treatment of autism are more likely to use many different therapies. Not all families are happy with the therapy options that exist. More research needs to be done to find out why some families have trouble finding therapy for their child.
