Source:

Education and Treatment of Children, Volume 30, Issue 4, p.183-213 (2007)

Layperson Summary:

Videos can be used to teach skills to children with autism.

This review article was designed to see what type of video modeling works best for teaching children with autism. The review showed that all types of video modeling (adults, peers, self, visual) can help children with autism. The best types of video modeling were self modeling and peer modeling. They did find that mixed modeling did not work as well as single types of modeling. Future studies should look at what length of video works best.
