Layperson Summary:

Drugs that help the serotonergic system of the brain may help people with autism.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be the result of many things. About 21% of children with ADHD also have Asperger syndrome. The authors looked to see if some of the same genes cause autism and ADHD. They looked at the genes that code for different brain chemical systems. They believe that more research on the overlap between ADHD and autism will help to find better drug therapy for autism.
