Layperson Summary:

Ziprasidone may help with the symptoms of autism.

This pilot study was designed to see if the antipsychotic ziprasidone is a safe and effective treatment for behavior problems that can come with autism. The study included only 12 teenagers. Ziprasidone does appear to reduce global and specific symptoms of autism. These symptoms were measured by the researchers and the parents. The researchers thought that the drug therapy worked better than the parents did.
