Amaze Behavior Therapy is an applied behavioral analysis-based clinic in Cleveland, TN. The owner and clinical director, Carrie Walls, explained, “At Amaze Behavior Therapy, we believe every child is unique and therefore needs an individualized approach … we offer an array of behavior therapy components.” In addition to ABA, Amaze Behavior Therapy offers discrete trial training, incidental teaching, pivotal response training, and verbal behavior approach. Tell Me About It! is a new iPad/iPhone app for kids with autism. Developed by Different Roads to Learning in New York, the app focuses on teaching language skills using applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques. Different Roads explains that Tell Me About It! “utilizes Discrete Trial Teaching, a method of teaching students…by breaking skills into the smallest possible steps, teaching each step intensively until its mastered, providing repetition, prompting incorrect responses, and using positive reinforcement.” Tell Me About It! can be found on iTunes for $9.99.

Two Virginia school districts - Henry County and Martinsville - offer free autism screening, and provide therapy to children as young as 2 years of age. The Piedmont Regional Infant-Parent Program offers early intervention services that include picture exchange communication system (PECS) and discrete trial training. Therapists have realized that if they can start working with children as young as 2, the chances for learning are increased.
