Researchers are creating computers that can read and respond to the emotional state of a person with autism and may be used to provide better therapy.

This study looked to see whether computers can be taught to respond to the affect/emotional state of a person with autism. A therapist and parent of each person in the study gave a report on the emotional state of the person with autism. For the most part, the parent and therapist agreed on the emotional state of the person. The person with autism did not report their emotional state to be the same as that reported by the parent and therapist. Technology may soon be able to help people with autism have better access to therapists and doctors.

This article reviews the role of new technology and computers as therapy tools for autism. It also describes the new technologies that are now being developed. These include computer software, audio and video recorders, virtual reality, and robots. These technologies can do many things, one of which is to provide a way to teach skills using computer software and virtual reality. The computer software called "Mind Reading: The Interactive Guide to Emotions(TM)" can help children with Asperger Syndrome to learn to recognize emotions.

This study was designed to see if the Mind Reading method could be used to teach children with Asperger Syndrome to learn to recognize emotions. The authors found that the Mind Reading program was able to help children learn to recognize basic and complex emotions in faces and voices. This shows that it is possible for people with Asperger Syndrome to recognize emotions. The students found the computer program to be interesting, fun, and helpful. Slowing down facial expressions may be key to teaching children with autism to read emotions from faces.

Most children with autism are not good at knowing about facial expressions. The more severe the autism, the more problems the children have reading faces. This study was designed to see whether or not slowing down a video of face movements can help with children learn about facial emotions. The children with autism were better able to read facial expressions if the facial expressions were slowed down. Therefore the authors created software that slows down facial and sound cues.
