Homeopathy is a primitive practice based on the belief that an extremely small amount of a toxic substance dissolved in an extremely large amount of water can cure the condition that the toxic substance would otherwise cause. Several reliable studies have shown it to be ineffective; the concept is more akin to witchcraft than medicine. Nevertheless, it appeals to parents' desire to control that which modern medicine cannot cure, and many of them spend great amounts of money and time in fruitless pursuit of homeopathic concoctions that will cure their children.
